Here we are talking about former Indian fast bowler Salil Ankola, who has been selected as the new chief selector of Mumbai cricket for the upcoming domestic cricket season.
The upcoming domestic cricket season will begin next month with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Salil Ankola (52 years) took two wickets in the only Test match for India. He also played 20 ODIs, taking 13 wickets. In domestic cricket, Ankola played 54 matches and took 181 wickets in which his best performance was six wickets for 47 runs.
The other members of the selection committee are Sanjay Patil, Ravindra Thaker, Zulfikar Parker, and Ravi Kulkarni. Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) said in the release, "MCA's Cricket Reforms Committee for the Senior Selection Committee for the 2020-21 season (session ending 31 March 2021) Salil Ankola (Chairman), Sanjay Patil, Ravindra Appointments of Thaker, Zulfiqar Parker and Ravi Kulkarni.
The Cricket Reform Committee consists of Lalchand Rajput (Chairman), Rajiv Kulkarni, and Sameer Dighe. MCA said that soon the head coach of the senior men's team will be announced.
Salil Ankola's unique career
Salil Ankola, who has played a Test match, 20 ODIs, and 1996 World Cup, has got the opportunity to play with many of India's legendary players. He was emerging as a prolific cricketer but decided to retire at the age of 28 as his left shin bone was revealed to have a bone tumor. Because of this, he could not run for two years. He was also part of the Mumbai cricket team which won the Ranji Trophy title in 1995/96 which also included Sachin Tendulkar.
After this Salil Ankola left the cricket field and entered the acting world. Ankola did not find much difficulty in getting work in the TV industry due to his good stature and great looks. In 2006, Salil Ankola became a part of the reality TV show Bigg Boss. It was the first edition of Bigg Boss season. He spent the fewest days (8) in Bigg Boss house.
