Humanity had suffered a wave of one virus or the other in every decade. In the 18th century there was the plague, in the 19th-century Spanish flu also known as influenza came, then in 2020 came the world-famous coronavirus (COVID - 19). Its first wave started spreading in November 2019 in china, then slowly spreading to other countries like America, Pakistan, Dubai, India & many more. In March 2020 lockdown was declared in India which continued for 5-6 months. This year, initially situations were much better, all of a sudden second wave came with miserable after effects, lots of deaths occurred, people were literally begging for oxygen cylinders & injections .simultaneously rates of cylinders went sky high, which added fuel to the adverse conditions in the cities where the cases were unstoppable, like Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, etc. People were lined up everywhere in hospitals, chemist shops, vaccination centers even in the cremation grounds which was the limit. Dead bodies were put like backpacks in the ambulance. Situations were more or less the same everywhere whether its government hospital or private, urban area or rural, whether the effect was diagnosed early or late. In short, nothing saved human lives neither money nor sources but God.
I strongly feel that the major cause of the situation is purely the negligence of precautionary measures, such as social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands from time to time, not touching eyes & nose, not taking out masks in public places, to avoid social gathering even in funerals. But people open up after unlock as if they were kept in cages & Covid had gone. They gathered in events such as ‘Kumbh -Mela’, political events such as rallies, campaigning, etc.
Even after seeing all these people are still thinking that they should enjoy themselves before the third wave comes as if it is a festival which will definitely come. Instead, they are asking questions to the government regarding their take to deal with the third. Recently our Prime minister, Mr. Modi asked a simple question to the public in general, that why aren’t we thinking about how to stop the third wave? But everybody is keen on seeing the next steps of the government in this matter.
According to sources, the third wave will be more dangerous for the children. It is so ironic that the third wave is very much expected, vaccination is not available for the children yet & all the more schools will be open. The big question is that in the future if the situations become worse & more children suffers or dies then how the Government will handle the crisis?
What has to happen have happened but the bigger problem is yet to come. Everybody is so busy in their lives & current needs nobody is planning about their future. what can happen or what kind of lifestyle their future generations will have because of covid? In public places there will be extra precautionary measures such as wearing masks, sanitizing hands, also there will be limitations of social gatherings in places like malls, movie theatres, hotels, banquets, educational seminars, spiritual discourse, etc. People will not be able to move freely like before.
We can only hope & pray that may God do as much as possible for mankind’s survival. Now only two factors can stop or at least decrease the pandemic, firstly we together can join hands in repairing the circumstances with our actions, and secondly the God’s support, as he is the Almighty who has all the ultimate power.
